![]() ![]() The interest in the entrance lies in the 2 doors of a height of 3.5 m, which conserve the original hinges and fittings. The floor comprises stones weighing 200 kg each and had to be given special treatment owing to the complications. The refurbishment work on the main entrance was the most complicated part. During the refurbishment work, particular importance was placed on the entrance, the former entrance hall that was originally built to enable the entrance of horse-drawn carriages and whose original structure has been conserved. It is listed as a historical building of the town of Madrid and has been designated as one of the City’s Artistic Heritage sites. The construction is one of the first that was to be built in the area. The entire hotel is very bright and the refurbished building conserves the original entrance and main staircase. The building dates from the 18th century and the hotel is set around an interior courtyard that is typical of the period. The location was perfect with only a short block walk south to the closest metro stop, and almostly perfectly central to the key old town locations of the Prado, Reina Sofia, Atocha Train Station, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Retiro Park and Royal Palace. Items included a toothbrush and toothpaste and comb among the standard bathroom items and all were of great quality. Bathroom water pressure was awesome and bathroom amenities were excellent. Everyone spoke english very well and they were all, yes all, very polite and courteous. We always had a nightcap at the bar downstairs and the bar tender, who seemed to work there every night, was excellent and very polite and gracious. ![]() The rooms bed was very comfortable and they upgraded me to a street view room - didn't ask for it but it was a nice gesture. We were greated with a very welcoming front desk staff member who, as we arrived at 8am, took care of our bags, gave me a recommendation on where the best rates on money exchange were and told us where to get some good breakfast to start touring. My wife and I stayed at the hotel for 6 nights in mid-November. ![]()
